Tatiana Pinto

Tatiana Letier Pinto is an architect, artist, and independent researcher based in Stockholm. Her interdisciplinary practice explores the intersections of architecture, politics, and social justice, with a commitment to transformation towards feminist and decolonial futures.

Tatiana’s work moves between writing, performance, collective reading, and spatial interventions, critically engaging with territories, histories, and social geographies. Blurring the line between fiction and reality, her projects construct counter-narratives that challenge dominant ideologies and invite dialogue around urgent societal issues.

Graduated as an architect and urban planner from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2002), Tatiana holds a Master’s in Sustainable Architecture from the University of Bologna (2005), and a Master’s in Architecture and Urbanism in Development from The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (2010). She currently collaborates with the Decolonizing Architecture Advanced Studies post-master course at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2018-2025).

Tatiana Letier Pinto é arquiteta, artista e pesquisadora independente baseada em Estocolmo. Sua prática interdisciplinar explora as interseções entre arquitetura, política e justiça social, com um compromisso com a transformação e a emancipação por meio de futuros feministas e decoloniais.

O trabalho de Tatiana transita entre a escrita, a performance, a leitura coletiva e intervenções espaciais, engajando-se criticamente com territórios, histórias e geografias sociais. Ao borrar as fronteiras entre ficção e realidade, seus projetos constroem contra narrativas que desafiam ideologias dominantes e convidam ao diálogo sobre questões sociais urgentes.

Formada em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2002), Tatiana possui mestrado em Arquitetura Sustentável pela Universidade de Bolonha (2005) e mestrado em Arquitetura e Urbanismo em Desenvolvimento pela Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (2010). Atualmente, colabora com o curso de pós-mestrado Decolonizing Architecture Advanced Studies no Royal Institute of Art em Estocolmo (2018–2025).

This is a living archive of my practice. Departing from decolonial thinking, I refuse to impose a strict structure, neither chronological nor thematic. Instead, I celebrate the organicity of natural forms, where collaboration and symbiotic relationships are inherent.

The name tapia and the drawing on the opening page come from Crateva tapia, a native Brazilian tree from the Capparaceae family. Like myself, it thrives in tropical lowlands, in sunny environments, and is commonly used in reforestation efforts, restoring degraded areas and imagining new landscapes. It also holds medicinal properties.

In Tupi, an Indigenous language once widely spoken along the Brazilian coast before colonial invasion, tapia means always. Though largely erased, Tupi survives within Brazilian Portuguese in some words related to nature, food, and places.

Tatiana Pinto and (tapia) is always seeking sunny alliances and friendships while actively interrogating and revisiting erased history, to co-create new political imaginations based in care, collectivity and reparative justice.
